PROGRAM OBJECTIVE:

Upon completion of this program, graduates will possess the skills and knowledge to become employed as entry level Phlebotomists Technicians in medical centers and other medical facilities.Phlebotomy Training

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Students of the Phlebotomy Technician program must complete the prerequisite of the with Principles of Phlebotomy course with a grade C or better. The Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to train students to perform duties which include blood draw, storing blood and blood components, venipuncture, and basic processing. Students will learn the circulatory system and its functions and pathology of diseases, law and ethics, critical policies and procedures including universal precautions, infection control, OSHA and CLIA guidelines and how they apply to the Phlebotomy Technician’s duties and responsibilities. Students will demonstrate knowledge and apply skills in using medical tools and equipment relevant to the function of a Phlebotomy Technician.

The Phlebotomy Clinical is only required if you wish to take the certification exam.

Phlebotomy Clinical requirements include the following: 120 clinical hours with a minimum performance of 100 successful sample collections and orientation in a full service laboratory. ALL of the above items must be completed to fulfill the requirements of the clinical.
